ICS Calendar View Have you ever received a calendar invitation in email that you couldn't open? We certainly have. And we now have a solution. ICS Calendar View is designed to open and display the contents of ICS Calendar Files that other apps aren't able to open (usually Mail or Safari). Commonly, you may receive a calendar invite generated by Outlook and received by you on an email service like gmail. This calendar invite shows up as an .ics file attachment to the email. The iPhone OS Mail app isn't able to open this .ics file attachment. Once Calendar View is installed on your device, when in Mail and you touch the .ics file attachment, Mail will offer you the option to launch the Calendar View app. This app will then open and display the .ics calendar invite so you can see what you've been invited to. Note that this app uses a Mail integration feature within iOS that has different capabilities depending upon version. With iOS 3.2 (iPad only), can open .ics attachments from either Mail or Safari On iOS 4.0 and 4.1, can open .ics attachments from Safari, but not Mail On iOS 4.2 and beyond, can open .ics attachments from both Safari and Mail Note that iOS 4.2.1 has the ability to open some .ics attachments from Mail.
